Etching, Oil and acrylic on an earth-brown wood panel.
This is a multimedia piece on an unconventional wooden canvas which originally happened to be part of a piece of someone's furniture that was thrown out as rubbish. The vast space and on the wooden panel and its earthy tone spoke to me and I couldn't resist the urge to do something with it. Because I love to etch into wood, the piece started off as an etching, but after I etched out the image, an insatiable need to apply colour and bring it to life with the goal of reflecting the psychedelic nature of Jimi Hendrix, compelled me to turn the piece into a coarse painting as its final form.
