I paint contemporary gestural works mainly in acrylic and mixed media. My love of art began as a child after I was given a John Nagy art kit for Christmas when I was ten and I’ve been drawing ever since. However, my career actually was in education where I taught special education for many years at the high school level and retired in the late 1990’s. After retiring, I resumed my love of art and took numerous workshops and classes in drawing and painting. After studying with Peggi Roberts and Teresa Oaxaca and appreciating their keen sense of color and the human figure, I developed an interest in color and form.

This led me to work as a figurative artist concentrating mostly on portraiture. I even had a short stint as a portrait artist at Downtown Disney which taught me to work really fast! However a workshop a short while ago with Lauren Montecon of Santa Fe opened me up to the joy of painting while concentrating on color and form and getting more involved with process. After working with Lauren I was hooked on abstract art. I feel with abstract painting I’m more in touch with the process of creating art and I appreciate choosing just the right materials for my paintings.
I have had numerous shows, exhibited at the Sawdust Festival, Mission Viejo Fun with Chalk, Orange County Fair, and have won Best in Show and numerous blue ribbons.
