Irvine based Fine Artist James Hendershott has really hit a vein of gold recently with his latest explorations of the Port of Long Beach. He is drawing a lot of inspiration from the Ashcan School of art, with its gritty descriptions of life in New York. He is bringing that aesthetic out of the West Coast with this recent obsession with the monolithic refineries, train yards, and barren landscapes juxtaposed against majestic skies.
Starting out his Fine Art career as a portrait painter, James’ eye is honed towards capturing the human spirit through his work. His portraits in watercolor and oil embellish prize spots of many homes; his eye for detail and his ability to capture the emotion of his subjects shows gracefully in each of their faces. Through his own individual technique, he can transform any photograph into a piece of ART.
