Eren Alptekin

To pursue her creative dreams, Eren studied architecture and earned her Master of Science degree in Architecture from Columbia University in New York City in 1985 after receiving her B. Arch. and M. Arch. Degrees. Eren’s relationship with different art forms has constantly evolved over the years but always touches back to her architectural design and art history background.

Eren worked extensively with watercolors, acrylics and oils and each medium helped her to continue formulating and enhancing her own personal style in mixed media. Mixed media allows her to fully express her abstract style of re-imagination the world with pure innovation.

Her extensive international travels, experiences of urban life and the natural splendor of California continue to be a constant catalyst in her never ending pursuit of new ideas. Her abstract paintings depict the serenity and balanced feel of natural environments, focusing on light’s diffusion through the air, water and land. Her urban scapes reflect her experiences of the energy in metropolitan cities and her appreciation of the grandeur of the historic buildings and environments. Her figurative work is about celebrating life, love, togetherness and strength.

With some inspirational notion in her mind, Eren starts most of her artwork with some compositional ideas. But the texture and colors quickly take on a life of their own. Her spontaneous and innovative textural applications and her multi layered coloring technique with rich hues, in line with the spatial movement of the texture, creates a unique visual narrative. Eren’s paintings are an opportunity to not only convey the passion and depth she puts into her art, but also to give each viewer a unique sense of energy and excitement.

Eren has been exhibiting her art throughout California in numerous galleries and juried art shows for the past 28 years and her work has been displayed in many collections in the U.S. and abroad. Currently she is represented by Hugo Rivera Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA.

Eren works and lives with her husband in Newport Beach, CA and has two grown up daughters.
